Introduction

The never2old exercise programme was founded on the belief that it is never too late for an older adult over the age of 60 years to start exercising. Research and experience tell us that there are numerous health, fitness and lifestyle benefits to be gained from involvement in regular, programmed physical exercise right into genuine old age.

Developed by staff within the AUT Division of Sport & Recreation the programme specifically targets the health and fitness of older adult men and women through a resistance based exercise programme combined with educational seminars and a strong social component.

The never2old vision is now shared by the YMCA of Auckland, with 8 facilities offering the programme along with 2 JustWorkout centres on the North Shore and the AUT Sport & Fitness Centre on AUT University’s North Shore Campus.

Now into it’s fifth year of operation, the programme delivers real health and fitness benefits to 100’s of older adult clients right across the Auckland region.
